Mr. Onnik Krikorian, the regional editor for Caucasus at Global Voices, photojournalist, and surely the most dynamic and proactive Armenian blogger, has published a review of blogs that have recently carried articles on Armenian education. In his review, Onnik has included my blog ArmenHES for which I would like to thank him. To read Onnik’s article, please click here.
Onnik believes that the general interest in political blogs is dropping as “post-election tensions are dying down in Armenia” and consequently “there is a huge potential for blogs to cover more specific issues which are either ignored or left undiscussed by the media and society in general. One of those subjects is education”. Another one is the Armenian lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender theme to which he has dedicated a separate post. In other words, Onnik expects or at least hopes that the Armenian blogsphere will undergo further diversification thanks to the emergence of more focused and specialized blogs.
Onnik wrote another interesting article on Armenian blogsphere last May entitled “Armenia: Blogging Comes of Age” that I highly recommend to all those who have not read it. I admit that I have had the idea of creating a website on Armenian education for the last 2 years but, after reading Onnik’s May article, decided to go for a blog. Hopefully, many others will get the same kind of inspiration.
