A new pan-Caucasian initiative has been launched in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Caucasus Analytical Digest (CAD) is a monthly online publication focusing on the political, economic, and social situation in the 3 South Caucasus states of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The CAD perspective on the region is within the context of international and security dimensions.
The new journal is jointly produced by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Tbilisi, the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen, Germany, the Jefferson Institute in Washington DC, USA, and the Center for Security Studies at ETH (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule) Zurich, Switzerland.
According to Discoursology.net, CAD offers analytical articles written in a different style to the RFE/RL Caucasus Report, and promises to offer more balanced and reflective accounts of events in the region than those available at Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty.
The 1st issue of CAD has “Perspectives on the Georgian-Russian war” as its central theme. Contributors to the 1st issue include Sabine Fischer, France, who has an article on “European Policy towards the South Caucasus after the Georgia Crisis”, Haroutiun Khachatrian, Armenia, “Razor’s Edge: An Armenian Perspective on the Georgian-Russian War” and Fariz Ismailzade, Azerbaijan, “The Georgia-Russian Conflict: A Perspective from Azerbaijan and Implications for the Region”.
